FAILURE TO DISCLOSE A CRIMINAL RECORD WHEN APPLYING FOR A CCW PERMIT WILL BE TREATED AS FILING A FALSE LEGAL DOCUMENT AND COULD RESULT IN CRIMINAL PROSECUTION AND/OR THE DENIAL OF YOUR PERMIT! YOUR APPLICATION IS CONSIDERED A LEGAL DOCUMENT AND IT IS EXPECTED TO CONTAIN COMPLETE AND ACCURATE INFORMATION.
WE DO NOT EXCEPT CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS! PLEASE HAVE THE EXACT AMOUNT OF CASH ON HAND TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE YOU ARE REQUESTING.
Currently, The Darke County Sheriff's Office is taking applications for a permit to carry a concealed weapon. To apply for a permit, call 937 548 3399 and make an appointment to begin the application process. When you arrive at the Sheriff's Office for your appointment, DO NOT BRING A FIREARM. You will need to bring:
1. 2”X 2” color picture of yourself taken within the last 30 days.
2. Your certificate of completion of the prescribed CCW course.
3. A COMPLETED application.
4. Photo I.D.
5. Cash or Money Order in the amount of $67.00 if you have lived in Ohio for more than five years, $91.00 if not. (No personal checks will be accepted.)
6. BE PROMPT!
Due to the overwhelming demand for CCW permits we are doing our best to accommodate each applicant. We are experiencing many people not showing up on time, or they do not have the completed paperwork. The Law states that YOU SHALL read the blue book, and everything you need is in that book including the application. YOU being late, or not having the appropriate documentation is causing a delay in keeping on schedule.
One other vital point: If you have a criminal record, no matter how minor you may think it is and even if it is sealed!…YOU MUST indicate it on your application and divulge it the time of your appointment. Failure to do so WILL delay you in receiving your permit, or may keep you from receiving it all.
